Covering an area of 25,500 square meters, the center will mainly focus on proton radiotherapy and include non-proton and proton zones.

As the proton has extremely strong penetrability, ultra-thick and heavy concrete was used to build the wall of the center. In addition, the concrete includes dozens of elements and the density of each cubic meter reaches 3,900 kilograms, which is four times the conventional standard.

Once operational, the center is expected to help improve tumor diagnosis and treatment in Hubei and Central China, and to benefit more than 1,000 patients annually.
