China-Built Canada LNG Project Delivered

Updated: June 06, 2023

The Canada Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Project was delivered on May 29.

Its delivery was of great significance to improving China's clean energy manufacturing capacity and contributing to green and low-carbon development of the global energy industry.

Contracted by Offshore Oil Engineering Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), the world-level LNG project was jointly invested and built by top five international petroleum companies. The first phase includes two production lines with a designed annual output of 14 million metric tons.

Once operational, it will supply high-quality clean energy to China and other Asian countries.

CNOOC was responsible for construction of the 157 modules peripheral work, which includes six power distribution rooms and the core module of the instrument control engineer station. The total weight was about 108,000 tons, equaling that of the steel structure of two Burj Khalifa Towers, the world's highest building.
