The China-designed potassium chloride project with an annual output of 500,000 metric tons in Laos opened recently.
Located in Khammouan Province, the large-scale potassium chloride project was designed by Chonfar Engineering and Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Sinochem Holdings Corporation Ltd. (Sinochem Holdings).
With a total investment of 2.4 billion yuan ($340.11 million), the project is in second phase after the other 500,000-ton output potassium chloride project that started operation in 2014.
Upon operation, the total potassium chloride output of the two phases of the project will reach 1 million tons annually. This will play a role in boosting local economic growth, driving employment in affected areas while supporting potassium chloride supply in China and speeding up development of potassium resource in Southeast Asia.
