Contracted by China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, a subsidiary of China Railway Construction Corporation Limited (CRCC), it is a result of the Chinese state-owned enterprises' involvement in the high-quality development of the Belt and Road and support for industrialization in Africa.
Construction of the plant started in January 2021 and was completed in November 2022.
The plant includes one large-sized component unloading line, one coupling wind braking experiment line, two inspection lines and one leading track. It is capable of shouldering assembly missions of 500 modern train wagons annually.
By the end of April 2023, the plant has assembled 105 train wagons and 220 wagons are scheduled to be completed by the end of the third quarter this year.
The plant has adopted production lines for various kinds, small batches and flexible train wagons, realizing export of the Chinese manufacturing technology, production equipment and relative standards of 70-metric-ton general-purpose train wagon with 23-ton bearing and a speed of 120 kilometers per hour.
China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation will continue to bring advanced production technologies, plant management experience and standardized worker training methods to Nigeria. The plant is also expected to become a key platform to cultivate local train wagon production and maintenance talents.
