Located in the Jiangdong New Area in Haikou, the IDC project is about 3 kilometers from the coastline.
Covering an area of about 30,000 square meters and with a total investment of about 580 million yuan ($83.11 million), the project includes construction of a five-story data center building and a one-story power center building.
Construction of the project started on June 23, 2022.
Once operational, the project is expected to support the Hainan FTP's evolution into a leading international submarine cable hub and network exchange center in the Asia-Pacific region.
In addition, the IDC will provide safe and reliable basic data center resources, and support industries and enterprises in fields of investment, finance, internet, and education in Haikou and the FTP with strong information data processing capabilities.
It will also play a crucial role in promoting development of cloud computing and big data industries in the region, and boost information technology construction and smart city development in the Hainan FTP.
