The first of its kind in Nepal to be developed, built and operated by a Chinese enterprise, the Upper Marsyangdi A Hydropower Station started construction in early 2013 and was put into commercial operation on Jan 1, 2017.

It is also the first hydropower station project to be put into operation ahead of schedule in the country.

It's worth noting that in addition to power generation, POWERCHINA, who is operating the station, has also fulfilled its other social responsibilities in affected areas, including the construction of schools, hospitals, roads and bridges, and has supported local water supply and irrigation.

So far, the station has generated nearly 2.16 billion kWh of power, continuously providing high-quality, stable and reliable clean energy to Kathmandu, capital of Nepal, and Pokhara, the country's largest tourism city.
