A China-aided solar power demonstration village project in Mali recently passed acceptance in Koniobla and Karan villages.
Contracted by China Geo-Engineering Corporation, a subsidiary of China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group (CECEP), the project included installation of 1,195 off-grid solar household systems, 200 solar road lamps systems, 17 solar water pumping systems and two centralized solar power supply systems, benefiting tens of thousands of people in affected areas.
According to CECEP, the project is expected to promote clean energy and share green development experience in the field of livelihoods, which is of great significance in boosting green and sustainable development in Mali.
Zhao Yongqing, project manager of the solar power demonstration village, said that the project meets demands to improve rural supporting facility construction in Mali and responds to the expectation of local people's long-term thirst for a happier life.
The head of the Agency for Renewable Energies of Mali said that the advanced photovoltaic technology is crucial for Mali to cope with climate change and improve rural livelihoods, adding that the China-aided solar power demonstration village project is a meaningful application of photovoltaic technology in livelihood improvement in remote villages.
