Covering an area of 136,000 square meters, the stadium features 63,000 seats and is the only seaside football pitch stadium surrounded by the sea on three sides in China. It is also the first professional football pitch in Dalian.
The facade of the stadium is built with 7,823 pieces of ETFE membrane that contains nine kinds of blue membrane materials, which is the largest membrane structure of the world's professional football pitches.

Building information modeling (BIM) technology was used during construction to ensure highly-efficient and accurate engineering.
It's worth noting that the stadium has hybrid turf in which the high-strength synthetic fibers are planted under the ground and the roots of the natural grass are intertwined with the synthetic fibers during the natural growth of the grass, making a more solid surface.
China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) was responsible for the project.
