Located in downtown Colombo, the project covers an area of 14,900 square meters and has about 50,000 square meters of building area.

Construction of the project started in August 2017 and achieved the finnal acceptance last June. The project is so far the largest of its kind built by a Chinese enterprise in Sri Lanka.

During construction, the project recruited more than 400 local workers and provided them with professional learning platforms to cultivate their technical skills.

As a key project to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of China-Sri Lanka diplomatic relations, it is a result of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Once operational, the project is expected to be the largest public hospital in the country and will be able to accept as many as 6,000 patients, three times more than the previous level, which will greatly relieve local medical service shortages, promote medical research and education development in Sri Lanka as well as contribute to the country's medical care sector.
