The ship was specially built by Guangzhou Shipyard International Company Limited, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (CSSC), for the Italian MOBY Line shipping company.

The two companies signed a shipbuilding contract in June 2019 for two ships of the same type. It was a practical result of the Belt and Road Initiative between China and Italy.

With a total length of 237 meters and a width of 33 meters, the passenger ship has a service speed of about 23.5 knots and total tonnage of over 70,000 metric tons. It is currently the largest luxury ro-ro passenger ship in the world.

It is expected to be operated on the route between the Italian cities of Genoa, Olbia, and Livorno along the Mediterranean coast.

The ship has 13 decks and 533 rooms, and can accommodate 2,500 passengers and nearly 800 cars. The building area of its upper deck is about 16,000 square meters with about 6,700 square meters set aside for restaurants and leisure venues.

The total length of cable installed on the ship is nearly 1,000 kilometers, equaling the distance between Guangzhou to Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality.

It's worth noting that the indoors decoration including design, manufacturing, and installation were domestically done in China.

Strictly adhering to the principle of green, environmental protection and efficient operation, MOBY FANTASY can be seen as a model of "green ship".

It is equipped with a new type of vehicle loading system. Vehicles can directly enter the main hold of the ship through the central door at the stern, or through two side doors, which effectively improves loading and unloading efficiency.

At the same time, the ship is installed with the latest hybrid scrubber system, ensuring that all emissions meet the requirements of clean environmental protection.

The engine system has ultra-low power consumption system to enable a top speed of 25 knots with extremely low fuel consumption and reduce pollutant emissions.

The construction of the passenger ship is a result of Guangzhou Shipyard International Company Limited's advantages in research and development and manufacturing of marine equipment. It also shows the company's efforts in high-quality development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
