The successful installation was a breakthrough for China's capacity in key technology development and installation of the deepsea ultra-large jacket and a milestone of its international cooperation in the field of marine engineering.

The jacket platform is the most widely-used offshore oil and gas production facility in the world. It acts as a foundation of the huge platform on the sea surface.

The total weight of the Lufeng 12-3 deepsea jacket is over 24,000 metric tons, exceeding the lifting capacity of the world's largest floating crane.

The most advanced offshore engineering vessels such as Asia's largest launch barge Hai Yang Shi You 229 and Asia's second-largest individual crane ship Blue Whale were used in the installation. Thanks to innovative technologies, the deepsea jacket was precisely installed within 18 hours.

CNOOC's subsidiary in Shenzhen was mainly responsible for the installation. Established 40 years ago, the company has signed 104 international cooperation agreements with 60 oil companies from 16 countries.

It has produced more than 180 million tons of oil equivalent based on cooperation with other international oil companies.

The company plans to improve its management and operation mechanisms and develop a number of key cooperation projects to increase oil storage and production so as to support the economic and social development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
