China Railway Electrification Engineering Group Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Railway Group Limited (CREC) was responsible for design, integration, construction, commissioning and maintenance of 39 systems including power supply, contact network, tracks and transmission of the project.

The company will continue to provide technical guarantees and security work for the upcoming commercial operation as well as maintenance service of the line.

With a total length of about 24 kilometers, the Red Line will stretch between the five most prosperous cities in Israel. It is the first light rail line of the rail transportation system in Tel Aviv and the largest government-licensed infrastructure construction project in the country.

Once operational, it is expected to improve the usage rate of public transportation in Tel Aviv during the rush hours to 40 percent and reduce use of private vehicles by 12 percent, cutting commuting time down by nearly 10 percent and effectively relieving traffic congestion in the city.

In addition to the Red Line, several other light rail lines like the Green Line and Purple Line are also included in the layout of the light rail system in Tel Aviv. The system covers a distance of 220 kilometers and is expected to serve 427 million passengers in 2030 with an average daily passenger flow of 1.42 million.
