A Long March-3B carrier rocket was launched from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Southwest China's Sichuan Province on March 17, sending a Gaofen 13-02 satellite into planned orbit.

Primarily developed by the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology, a subsidiary of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), the carrier rocket that shouldered the launch mission on March 17 adopted the general design structure of the Long March-3A series.

The Gaofen 13-02 satellite was generally developed by CASC's China Academy of Space Technology. As a high-orbit optical remote sensing satellite, it will be used in emergency and disaster prevention, land surveys, environmental governance and meteorological observation.
The launch on March 17 was the 468th flight of the Long March carrier rocket series.
