The bridge has a total length of 29.2 kilometers and a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour. It includes three channel bridges and approach bridges that cross the dike and pass over the sea areas, including the shallow area, making it a super-long high-speed railway bridge cluster project.

The main span of the north channel bridge is 450 meters long, which is the world's longest-span ballast-less track cable-stayed bridge, and the main span of the middle channel bridge is 2*448 meters, the world's longest-span ballast-less track cable-stayed bridge with three towers.

Subsidiaries of China Railway Group Limited participated in design and construction of the bridge.

The bridge is a key section of the high-speed railway linking Nantong, Suzhou, JIaxing and Ningbo in East China's Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces. The newly-built section is 301 kilometers long and has a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour.

The construction period of the entire railway project will be five years, during which five new stations will be built, giving the line a total of 10 stations.

The railway is a major coastal passage of China's eight horizontal and eight vertical railway network and a backbone linking cities in the Yangtze River Delta region.

Once operational, the railway will be connected with various other lines to improve the rail network in the Yangtze River Delta region, which will make it easier for travel within the area and significantly boost the integrated development of the region.
