Located in an ice area at 40 degrees north, the Suizhong 36-1 is a heavy oilfield that produces oil difficult to recover. CNOOC independently conquered the recovery technology of the heavy oil and has mastered the capacity of operating large-scale and heavy offshore oilfields.
In 1993, the Suizhong 36-1 oilfield was put into production, becoming the first modern offshore oilfield independently developed and operated by China.

The Suizhong 36-1 oilfield owns 19 in-production platforms and is able to produce more than 5 million cu m of crude oil annually during its peak production period.
There are now 70 oil wells in the Suizhong 36-1 oilfield that have been continuously running for more than 2,000 days; 32 have been running for more than 3,000 days.
What's more, the oilfield has developed seven wells with cumulative output exceeding 1 million cu m and has realized annual oil-gas valent weight exceeding 3.5 million cubic meters for 12 consecutive years.
