Jakarta-Bandung HSR Completes Ballastless Track Slabs Engineering

Updated: March 02, 2023

Engineering of all the ballastless track slabs of the Jakarta-Bandung High-speed Railway (HSR) in Indonesia was completed on Feb 15, laying a solid foundation for track-laying and operation of the HSR.

With a total length of 142.3 kilometers, the Jakarta-Bandung HSR includes 85.3 kilometers of ballastless track section, accounting for 60 percent of the entire line. A total of 30,177 pieces of ballastless track plates are needed.

All of the ballastless track slabs were produced with complete proprietary intellectual property rights and have simple structure, stable performance, good duration, and high economical efficiency. What's more, the tracks are easy to use during engineering and are keys to safe and stable operation of the high-speed trains.

The construction was carried out by Power Construction Corporation of China.

Linking Jakarta, capital of Indonesia, and Bandung, the fourth-largest city of the country, the Jakarta-Bandung HSR is a landmark project of practical cooperation between China and Indonesia and a result of the Belt and Road Initiative.

As the first HSR in Southeast Asia with a speed of 350 kilometers per hour, the Jakarta-Bandung line is the first of its kind overseas built to Chinese standards with Chinese technologies by Chinese equipment.

Once operational, it is expected to shorten the travel time between the two cities to 40 minutes, which will greatly improve local traffic conditions and boost regional economic and social development.
