Operated by China Huaneng Group Co., Ltd. (China Huaneng), the project has contributed green energy to the country's economic and social development.
Located over the main stream of the Sesan River in Northeast Cambodia's Steung Treng Province, the Lower Sesan II Hydropower Station has a total installed capacity of 400,000 kilowatts, accounting for nearly 20 percent of the nation's total.
A key project under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, its construction was completed in late 2018.
During construction and operation of the station, China Huaneng has trained more than 200 technicians and technical and management talents for the country.
The technical standards of design, installation, operation and maintenance were also translated into Cambodian and English to support the project.
It's worth noting that China Huaneng, adhering to the principle of green development, has invested about 10 million yuan ($1.46 million) in building a natural-like fishway to coordinate resource development and environmental protection.
