A ceremony was recently held at the Trindade Station in Porto, Portugal, acknowledging delivery of a subway train to the city.
It was also the debut of export of an urban train by China to a European Union country.
The new-type subway train was jointly designed by CRRC Tangshan Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of CRRC Corporation Limited. (CRRC), and Porto Metro Co.
Adhering to the principle of green and smart as well as comfortable and safe, the smart train has a light body and consumes low energy, meeting European standards.
It has been proved that the new train is compatible with existing trains in the city.
Once operational, the train is expected to improve the efficiency of the city's railway network and lower costs while providing local people with an easy and comfortable travel experience.
It's worth noting that the train is equipped with a driving assistance function to help increase economical operations.
A total of 18 such urban trains will be delivered to Porto from China, which will increase the passenger capacity of the city's metro system and improve citizens’ travel experience.
Four trains are scheduled to be sent to Porto in April with the first one to be put into operation in May after testing.
The new trains can not only operate on the existing lines, but also on new subway lines in the future.
A number of citizens in Porto also visited the station on the day of the ceremony and had a look at the new train. They gave thumbs up to the design and inside decor of the train.
