More than 10,000 tourists traveled along the Yangtze River by Chang Jiang San Xia 1, the pure electric cruise ship with the world's largest load capacity, during the Spring Festival holiday in 2023.
The voyages during the period consumed about 40,000 kilowatt-hours of power, equaling that generated by nearly 10 metric tons of fuel and eliminating nearly 30 tons of harmful gas emissions.
Some passengers said that they had seen reports about the cruise ship on television and had been amazed by its stable operation, modern decoration and scientific settings.

The Chang Jiang San Xia 1 pure electric cruise ship completed its maiden voyage on March 29, 2022.
It was jointly built by China Yangtze Power Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Three Gorges Corporation, and Three Gorges Tourism, a subsidiary of Yichang City Development. Many Chinese scientific institutes and enterprises also contributed to its development.
The pure electric cruise ship can travel 100 kilometers with one charge, replacing 530 tons of fuel and avoiding 1,660 tons of harmful gas emissions annually. It is a green ship without emissions, noise and pollution.
Compared with traditional cruise ships of its type, the Chang Jiang San Xia 1 cruise ship has higher propulsion efficiency, lower energy consumption and a higher utilization rate. It also performs more flexibly in entering and exiting locks, and turning around and steering.
