Covering an area of 23,570 square meters, the project included construction of two main office buildings and two laboratory buildings and features office administration zones, an emergency response center, an information center, biological laboratories and an experts' apartment.

Once operational, the center is expected to be the first all-Africa CDC with modern offices, laboratory conditions and completed facilities in the region. It is expected to contribute to improving the healthcare industry and livelihoods in Africa.

An important project of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, the Africa CDC plays a key role in promoting the China-Africa community with a shared future and is a landmark of China-Africa friendship and solidarity.

Its operation is also expected to enhance cooperation between China and Ethiopia as well as other African countries.

China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, a subsidiary of China Railway Construction Corporation Limited, was responsible for the project.

During construction, the company fulfilled its social responsibility. Nearly 1,000 local workers were recruited during the peak period, and special training courses were provided to the workers, which effectively drove local employment and cultivated a large number of skilled workers.
