A collaborating center for production and application of medical radioisotopes, radiopharmaceuticals, industrial radiotracers and sealed sources of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has been launched at China Isotope & Radiation Corporation, a subsidiary of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC).
It is the fourth collaborating center in the radiopharmaceutical field that was established by the IAEA after those launched in France, Russia and Portugal. It is also the first of its kind in Asia.
The center is an international platform for resource integration and exchange and cooperation. Under its cooperation mechanism of the center, China Isotope & Radiation Corporation will work with the IAEA nuclear experts, academic organizations, and enterprises and institutions of IAEA member countries in areas such as standardized design and operation of the radiopharmaceutical centers, quality control of radiopharmaceuticals, research and development and application promotion of radiopharmaceuticals as well as production and application of industrial tracers and sealed radioactive sources.
The center is expected to support the IAEA's research and development of radiopharmaceutical and radioactive sources, and improve the production and application capabilities of radiopharmaceuticals and radioactive sources in member countries.
