China-Built Africa's Largest Fiberglass Base Completed

Updated: January 11, 2023

The fiberglass tank furnace wire drawing production line of Jushi Egypt with an annual output of 120,000 metric tons has started operation.

The fiberglass base is expected to produce 340,000 tons annually, and will be Africa's largest fiberglass production base.

Owned by China National Building Material Group Co., Ltd., the new production line adopted innovative large tank furnace wire drawing and intelligent and green manufacturing technologies, which improved the intelligence level, production efficiency and energy utilization of Jushi Egypt while reducing operation costs. It also contributed to transformation and upgrading of the company and boosted its competitiveness.

The Jushi Egypt Fiberglass Base is the first large-scale fiberglass production base independently built by a Chinese enterprise overseas and has the greatest investment among China-invested projects in Egypt.

Since its establishment in 2012, Jushi Egypt has completed construction of four fiberglass production lines and supporting facilities at the base, with a total investment of nearly $1 billion.

The Egyptian market has been highly valued by China Jushi Co., Ltd. Since its first investment in 2012, the company has played a key role in supporting local economic growth and driving development of upstream and downstream industries.

It has provided more than 2,000 jobs for local people and has invested $335 million in building new projects including glass fiber production line furnaces, micronized powder workshops and product warehouses. More than 600 Egyptian employees are expected to be recruited for the new facilities.
