The Davao-Samal Bridge in the Philippines recently broke ground.
Contracted by China Road & Bridge Corporation, a subsidiary of China Communications Construction Company Limited, the bridge is a flagship cooperative project of the governments of China and the Philippines.
Located in Mindanao Island, the bridge will span the Pakiputan Strait, connecting Davao and Samal Island. The main bridge is designed as a double-tower, double-cable deck short tower cable-stayed bridge and features four lanes.
With a total length of 3.81 kilometers, the bridge has 1.62 kilometers of cross-sea section and a designed speed of 80 kilometers per hour.
Once operational, it will help shorten travel time between Davao and Samal Island. It is also expected to effectively revitalize the economic resources and tourism potential of the two regions, and promote development of logistics, tourism, trade and other sectors.
