Workers recently broke ground on the port of Takoradi project in Ghana. China Harbor Engineering Company Ltd., a subsidiary of China Communications Construction Company Limited, is responsible for the undertaking.
Located in South Ghana, the project includes an oil and gas service wharf and a floating dock, with engineering periods of 22 and 18 months respectively.
Once operational, the port will support development and operation of the oilfield in West Ghana and ship repairing in West Africa, which is expected to push forward upgrading and transformation of the old Takoradi port and drive economic growth in West Ghana.
In addition, the project is also expected to create new jobs for local people, which will improve local livelihoods.
