With a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour, the railway project starts in Nanchang City in Jiangxi Province in the west, passes through Shangrao City and Jingdezhen City, Jiangxi, and ends in Huangshan City in Anhui Province in the east. The main railway is 289 kilometers long, including 200 kilometers in Jiangxi.

China Railway 14th Bureau Group Corporation Limited, a subsidiary of China Railway Construction Corporation Limited, has undertaken the track laying of the main line of the Jiangxi section and stations, as well as the construction of 32.3 kilometers of bridges, 3.9 kilometers of roadbeds, 812 cell box girders, and the laying of 190 sets of turnouts.

The project has overcome unfavorable factors and used advanced technologies and equipment throughout construction. Information technology was used in video surveillance, wind speed monitoring, tire pressure monitoring, and wire rope monitoring to provide technical and safety guarantees for the erection of box girders.

The railway will connect the Hangzhou-Huangshan high-speed railway, and facilitate the connections of the cities of Huangshan, Hangzhou, Nanchang, and Jingdezhen. It will help build a tourist route that spans renowned cities, lakes and mountains in the provinces of Zhejiang, Anhui and Jiangxi, featuring revolutionary sites, cultural characteristics, and ecological landscapes.

In addition, the railway will help increase the radiation and driving effect of Nanchang, the megalopolis in the urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, and will build Jiangxi into a junction of the Belt and Road, which is of great significance to promoting economic development along the route.
