Workers at the electric operation station of the electronic instrument center in Sinopec-SK (Wuhan) Petrochemical Company Limited were recently seen wearing artificial intelligence (AI) helmets while giving instructions to the power dispatchers. The electric switching operation was done based on the 5G remote system.
Sinopec-SK (Wuhan) Petrochemical Company Limited has highly valued smart production. With the help of China Telecom Corporation Limited (China Telecom), the company has nine newly-built 5G base stations in its plant areas, and realizes full coverage through a customized 5G network. Taking advantage of low latency, large broadband and wide connections of the 5G network, and based on several 5G functions like data collection, video surveillance, machine visioning and 5G+MEC, the plant realized digital business procedures, highly-efficient operation and management and control, as well as visualized inspection.
According to staff members of the company, the smart plant now has wireless instrument remote data transmission, mobile video surveillance, wireless inspection of equipment, on-site rule-breaking response, electric switching operation coordination and remote expert assistant instruction. Applications like positioning employees and unmanned aerial vehicles inspection are on schedule.
Experts of China Telecom said that the company will continue to give full play to its advantages in industrial automation and informatization, and use key digital technologies like VR, cloud computing, the internet of things and AI to promote digital application in various procedures including plant construction, production and maintenance. The applications will help Sinopec-SK (Wuhan) Petrochemical Company Limited improve operation and maintenance efficiency, guarantee management capacity, lower operation costs and realize full-procedure automation and intelligentization of petrochemical production.
