World's Longest Span Open-Spandrel Rigid-Frame Bridge Completes Joining

The joining of the Ganxi Grand Bridge, a key section of the Guiyang-Huangping Highway in Southwest China's Guizhou Province, was completed on Sept 26.

Located in Guiding County, Qiannan Bouyei and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, the bridge spans the Dumuhe Reservoir in the Ganxi Nature Reserve.

Built by CCCC Second Highway Engineering Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Communications Construction Company Ltd (CCCC), the bridge is 1,220 meters long and has a 300-meter span, the world's longest of its kind.

The four-lane bridge has a designed speed of 60 kilometers per hour.

Once operational, the bridge is expected to shorten travel time between Xinba and Guiding counties to 15 minutes, which is of significance to boosting economic and social development in affected areas.
