Updated: September 15, 2022

Two sections of the Jinhai Avenue Bridge in Zhuhai, South China's Guangdong Province, were joined together on Sept 5, 2022. It is the first multi-tower cable-stayed bridge with both roads and a railway on the same layer in China.

A key section of the second phase of the Airport Urban Rail Transit project, the bridge is a crucial project in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The 1,369-meter-long and 49.6-meter-wide bridge consists of four steel towers, eight large segmented steel girders and 39 standard box steel girders. The total weight of the steel girders and towers reached 52,000 metric tons.

The bridge has a double-lane intercity railway in the middle with a designed speed of 160 kilometers per hour and dual three-lane carriageways in each direction allowing vehicles to operate as fast as 100 kilometers per hour.

It is scheduled to be ready for operation in 2023.
