The station serves the Tieli-Yichun section of the Harbin-Yichun High-speed Railway in central Heilongjiang and is the northernmost high-speed railway under construction in China. The section is 111.4 kilometers and has a designed speed of 250 kilometers per hour. The entire railway calls at three passenger stations: Tieli, Riyuexia and Yichun West railway stations.
