As of Aug 3, 2022, the Yangjiang Shapa Offshore Wind Farm of China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) — China's first 1 million-kilowatt offshore wind farm — had generated more than 2 billion kilowatt-hours of clean power this year, displacing more than 600,000 metric tons of standard coal and avoiding over 1.6 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

Located in the southern waters of Shapa Town, Yangjiang, South China's Guangdong Province, the Yangjiang Shapa Offshore Wind Farm is the first offshore wind power project invested and built by CTG in Guangdong.
The first wind turbines of the farm went into operation on Nov 29, 2019 and by Dec 25, 2021, the farm was in full operation.
The farm is equipped with 315 offshore wind turbines and has four offshore booster stations and nearly 1,000 kilometers of submarine cables. With a total installed capacity of 2 million kilowatts, it can provide 5.6 billion kWh of clean power to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area annually, meeting power demands of about 2.4 million households each year.

The project has driven coordinated development of the whole industrial chain of the offshore wind power industry in China and is expected to play a demonstrative and leading role in development and construction of large-capacity offshore wind power projects in the deep sea.
