China Railway 15th Bureau Group Corporation Limited, a subsidiary of China Railway Construction Corporation Limited is responsible for the project.
The Hangzhou-Ningbo Highway double track covers an ocean area of 613.03 mu (about 41 hectares) and consists of a mainline bridge, four widened bridges and eight ramp bridges. The track line is 10,090 meters long, the largest ocean interchange hub in Asia.

The interchange has a total of 1,027 pile foundations with diameters from 1.8 meters to 2.5 meters. The average pile length is 83 meters.
The complicated geological structure of the sea, the presence of numerous oil pipelines and the 500-kilovolt submarine cables made the pile foundation construction difficult.

According to the builders, the double track line of the Hangzhou-Ningbo Highway is scheduled to open at the end of 2023, which is expected to improve the national highway network and support construction of the collection, distribution and transportation network of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port. Its operation will be of great significance to the economic development of Zhejiang.
