CNOOC Installs World's Largest Undersea Pipe Clamp

China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) succeeded in installing the undersea pipe clamp of the Cezhen undersea pipeline deformation renovation project on July 26.

It is currently the largest special-shaped pipe clamp in use in the world and is expected to provide a brand-new solution to permanent restoration of the global undersea pipeline defect.

A main part of the Ningbo-Shanghai-Nanjing crude oil pipeline network, the Cezhen undersea pipeline is a key infrastructure to guarantee the nation's energy security and its maintenance and repairing has been seen as a priority.

The pipe clamp used in the maintenance is 6.15 meters long and weighs 24 metric tons. It has a largest diameter of 762 millimeters and high installation precision.

Many cutting-edge technologies were developed during installation.
