Located in Nansha, Guangzhou of South China's Guangdong Province, the bridge is 1,782 meters long and has a 912-meter main bridge, which spans 580 meters over the Longxue South Waterway of the Pearl River system, making it the longest structure of its kind.
The hybrid girder cable-stayed bridge has two towers and double cable planes. The main tower is 180 meters high.
A key traffic infrastructure in the Nansha Free Trade Zone, Honglian Bridge will help shorten travel time between Wanqingsha Town and Longxue Island to less than 10 minutes and is expected to play a key role in construction of an international shipping center with a fast collection and distribution system.
Its operation will also contribute to formation of a highly-efficient and convenient modern traffic and transportation system in Guangdong.
The bridge, organized and constructed by China Railway Construction Corporation Limited, is expected to open to traffic this year.
