China Delivers World's Most Advanced Fishing Processing Vessel

SHEN LAN, the world's most advanced fishing processing vessel, was delivered for operation on July 30.

Built by CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding Company Limited, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (CSSC), SHEN LAN can operate in ICE-A ice area with ice thickness of 0.8 meters and in low-temperature environment of minus 25 degrees Celsius.

It will be mainly used for fishing in the Southern Ocean and can carry out marine scientific research.

The vessel is expected to contribute to accelerating modern transformation of China's offshore fishing industry and supporting its high-quality development.

The vessel is about 120 meters long and 21.6 meters wide and has a designed draft of 7.3 meters. It can travel with a designed speed of 15 knots and accommodate 99 crew members.

With daily output of 600 metric tons, the vessel is equipped with the world's most advanced variable water layer trawling system, a continuous beam pumping system and several automatic processing lines, making it able to carry out continuous processing and automatic product packaging and transportation.

In addition, the vessel is also installed with three advanced production and processing lines for frozen shrimp, shrimp meat extraction and krill powder production.

The annual production capacity of the three lines is designed to be 70,000 to 100,000 tons.

Equipped with high-tech and automatic professional facilities, SHEN LAN can also act as a mobile offshore laboratory to conduct various kinds of scientific research.

The vessel is scheduled to head to the Southern Ocean to serve China’s offshore fishing and take high-quality offshore fishing resources back to Lianyungang, East China's Jiangsu Province, providing a Chinese solution to high-quality protein product supply.
