A highway project that will be contracted by a Chinese enterprise on the Moheli Island of Comoros broke ground on July 8.

Moheli Island is one of the three largest islands of Comoros. The highway project is designed to be 18 kilometers long and will be a key section of the ring road that runs around the island, connecting the cities of Vanani and Neomashwa.

It will be contracted by China Geo-Engineering Corporation, a subsidiary of China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group (CECEP) and completed in July 2024.

It is expected to be a new landmark of China-Comoros friendship and cooperation.

Once operational, the project will play a role in boosting the country’s social and economic development and deepening China-Comoros friendship and cooperation.
