The Xinghuo water surface photovoltaic (PV) power demonstration project of Daqing Oilfield in Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, was connected to the grid on July 1. It is the first PV power project of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) that is over a water surface, marking the oilfield has started its development in the new energy as one of its core businesses.

Covering an area of 400,000 square meters, the PV power demonstration project has an installed capacity of 18.73 megawatts and is expected to generate 27.5 million kilowatt-hours of power annually, equivalent to a reduction of 22,000 tons of carbon dioxide.
The project is expected to contribute to China's dual carbon goals of peaking carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060.
It is also a key step of CNPC's overall layout on clean energy development and green transformation.
Its operation will provide solid technical and construction experience for the company's future development of new energy projects.
