Contracted by the 5th Engineering Co., Ltd of China Railway 11th Bureau Group, a subsidiary of China Railway Construction Corporation Limited, the bridge is about 865.88 meters. It is designed with 25 piers, the highest of which is 114.9 meters, making the bridge a typical high-pier and long-span bridge.

A key section of the Chengkou-Kaizhou Highway, the grand bridge was difficult to build and has high management and control risks.

Once operational, the project will be the first highway to reach Chengkou County of Chongqing and a high-speed channel to connect Northwest China's Shaanxi Province with Chongqing. It will also contribute to completion of the Yinchuan-Baise Highway that links the Ningxia Hui and Guangxi Zhuang autonomous regions, optimize the national highway network and boost economic and social development in the Qinling and Daba mountain areas.
