A new section of the Chengdu-Ya'an Highway in Southwest China's Sichuan Province opened to traffic on May 20, which is expected to boost integrated regional economic development.
Invested, built and operated by China State Construction Engineering Corporation, the new highway section starts from Pujiang County of Chengdu and terminates in Ya'an, linking the Chengdu-Xinjin-Pujiang Expressway and the No. 108 National Highway.

With a total length of about 60 kilometers, the highway section project includes construction of three tunnels and a grand bridge.
The Chengdu-Ya'an Highway is the most convenient and fastest link between Ya'an and the Chengdu Plain Economic Zone. It is a free channel with the highest technology grade and a key infrastructure able to support the traffic layouts of Ya'an and speed up integrated development of affected areas.
It's worth noting that the highway will help promote transport and marketing channels for rural tea gardens in Ya'an, the home of two regional tea brands, which will drive industrial development and upgrading of rural areas.

Once the highway is fully operational, travel time between Chengdu and Ya'an will be shorten to 1.5 hours, benefiting more than 20 villages along its length.
What's more, the highway will also support construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle.
