Once operational, the bridge will shorten travel time from Leqing in Wenzhou to the Longwan International Airport to 15 minutes. It is expected to improve national highway network, promote highway transport capacity of coastal regions in East China, boost connectivity between the Yangtze River Delta, the west coast of the Taiwan Straits and the Pearl River Delta, and push forward construction of the Guangdong-Fujian-Zhejiang coastal city cluster.

CCCC Second Harbor Engineering Company Ltd. and CCCC First Highway Engineering Group Co., Ltd., both subsidiaries of China Communications Construction Company Ltd (CCCC), participated in the project.
