China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) on March 1 announced that all 26 wells at Liuhua 16-2, China's first self-supporting deepsea oil and gas field cluster, have been put into operation.

The daily output of the oilfield cluster is expected to reach 16,000 cubic meters, a new source of improvement in oil and gas production of CNOOC's oilfields in the eastern South China Sea.

Located in the Pearl River Mouth Basin in South China Sea, the Liuhua 16-2 oilfield cluster includes the Liuhua 16-2, Liuhua 20-2 and Liuhua 21-2 oilfields that have an average depth of 412 meters, among the deepest offshore oil and gas fields being developed in the country.
