Yueliang Lake Park and Xingyue Lake Park in Gui'an New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou Province are now open to the public.
Covering about 8,000 mu (533.33 hectares), the parks are the largest single structure sponge city wetland park project in China.
Adhering to the concept of nature, ecology, harmony and humanity, the project was developed based on sponge city construction measures, which enhances the parks' role in improving the city's flood control capacity and ecological resilience and preserves them as green urban landscapes.
The project has been selected as among the important wetlands in Guizhou.
