New Community Quarantine Facility Ready for HK's Anti-Pandemic Fight

A central government-aided makeshift hospital for community quarantine to was delivered for service in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) on March 13. It will support the region's fight against the recent COVID-19 outbreak.

Located in Fanling, New Territories, the temporary quarantine facility covers about 20,000 square meters and will be able to provide more than 350 isolation rooms and over 1,000 isolation beds, which will help improve patient admissions and treatment in the region.

The facility is made up of modular box houses and each room is equipped with facilities such as furniture and bedding, air conditioners, smoke detectors and fire extinguishers.

Construction of the hospital started on Feb 23.

The central government began construction of nine makeshift hospitals in response to the recent COVID-19 outbreak in Hong Kong. At present, six quarantine facilities are already in operation, providing about 20,000 beds.
