Legislators, Advisers from CASC Discuss Achievements in Space Projects

The government work report delivered at the opening meeting of the fifth session of the 13th National People's Congress (NPC) on March 5, 2022, affirmed breakthroughs in the space field over the past year, inspiring national legislators and advisers from China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC).

Li Hong, a member of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and vice president of CASC, said that as a main force to realize China's goal of becoming a technology and space power, CASC plans to launch over 140 spacecrafts by more than 50 launch missions in 2022.

He added by saying that the company will continue to improve its launch capacity and will push forward digital transformation of space scientific research and production as well as boost innovative application of model-based system projects to promote optimization and upgrading of space science production mode and improve safety and stability of the industrial and supply chains.

Han Shuwang, an NPC deputy and chairman of CASC's China Aerospace Investment Holdings Ltd., said that the company will focus on national strategic emerging industries and increase investments in space projects.

Jiang jie, a CPPCC member, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and chief engineer of China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology, said that this year's government work report showed that China made progress in national innovation capacity, especially breakthroughs in unmanned space projects and Mars exploration.

He said that the report included detailed measures to improve the country's technological and innovation capacity, which will provide support to strengthen basic research, improve cutting-edge technology supply and consolidate high-tech breakthrough foundation.
