The 385-meter-high crossover tower of the 500-kilovolt Fengcheng-Meili cross-Yangtze River power transmission project in East China's Jiangsu Province was capped on Jan 12, 2022, becoming the highest of its kind in the world.
The 4,055-meter power transmission line between Fengcheng and Meili has two cross-river towers on the two banks of the Yangtze River, sitting in Xinqiao County of Jingjiang and Ligang County in Jiangyin, respectively.
China Energy Engineering Group Jiangsu Power Design Institute Co., Ltd. was responsible for the tower design.

Operation of the power transmission project is expected to utilize new energy sources such as wind and solar power, enhance interconnection and complementary of the power grid on the two sides of the Yangtze River and improve reliability of the grid in southern areas of Jiangsu.
