Shidaowan nuclear power plant

The No. 1 reactor of the Shidaowan nuclear power plant in East China's Shandong Province was connected to the power grid on Dec 20, marking operation of the world's first high-temperature gas-cooled reactor (HTGR) with a pebble-bed module based on a fourth-generation advanced nuclear power system.

Its operation is of great significance for innovative development of China's nuclear power industry and contributes to its high-level self-reliance and self-improvement in science and technology.

World's first 600 km/h high-speed maglev transportation system

The world's first high-speed maglev transportation system was revealed by CRRC Corporation Limited (CRRC) in Qingdao, Shandong, on July 20, 2021. It has a maximum speed of 600 kilometers per hour.

With independent intellectual property rights, the maglev transportation system shows that China now has capability in high-speed maglev technologies and their engineering approaches.

Development of the transportation system started in October 2016 and the test prototype was made in 2019. It succeeded in trial operations at Tongji University in Shanghai in June 2020.

Clinical trial of human immuneglobulin-based COVID-19 drug

China National Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd. (Sinopharm) obtained approval from the National Medical Products Administration to launch clinical trials of a COVID-19 drug based on human immunoglobulin derived from vaccinated people on Aug 30, 2021.

Animal tests show that the drug can relieve symptoms and repair damage caused by the coronavirus.
