Meizhou Bay cross-sea bridge
Two sections of the Meizhou Bay cross-sea bridge of the Fuzhou-Xiamen Railway were joined on Nov 13, 2021, a key step for the railway project.
Designed and constructed by CRCC, the bridge is 14.7 kilometers long and has a 10.8-km section built above the sea. It is the first extradosed cable-stayed bridge on a sea-crossing high-speed railway in China.
During construction, special steel structures were erected in order to protect the surrounding environment and show respect to Mazu cultural beliefs in a sea goddess in local areas.
