China-Laos Railway
The China-Laos Railway linking Kunming in Southwest China's Yunnan Province and Vientiane in Laos opened to traffic on Dec 3, 2021.
The 1,035-kilometer railway is expected to change transportation patterns in Laos, deepen China-Laos cooperation and exchanges in various fields such as the economy, social development, and culture, accelerate construction of the China-Laos Economic Corridor and build a community with a shared future for the two countries.
As a main force behind the railway construction, China Railway Group Limited was responsible for survey and design, electrification engineering and construction of some key sections of the railway.
