China's 1st Large-Scale Ultra-Deepwater Gas Field Produces 10 Million Cubic Meters of Natural Gas Per Day

Updated: December 01, 2021

China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) recently announced that the Shenhai Yihao ultra-deepsea gas field, dubbed Deep Sea No 1, the first large-scale ultra-deepwater gas field independently explored and developed by China, is able to produce 10 million cubic meters of natural gas per day.

The output capacity confirms that China's offshore oil industry has mastered production, operation and maintenance of the ultra-deepwater gas field, which will support energy supply in economic centers like South China's Guangdong and Hainan provinces and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

The Shenhai Yihao gas field was put into operation on June 25 this year. All 11 wells at the gas field are active and the further adjustments to production and treatment technologies now underway are expected to improve natural gas output.
