COFCO to Import Agricultural Products Valued over $10 billion

COFCO Corporation (COFCO) signed agricultural product purchase contracts valued at more than $10 billion on Nov 6 at the fourth China International Import Expo in Shanghai.

The company will import soybeans and several kinds of edible oil from Brazil, Russia, Indonesia, Argentina and Ukraine.

To improve the quality of various kinds of flour and noodles in China, the company purchased wheat, corn, rice, barley and sorghum from different regions around the world.

At this year's expo, COFCO reached agreements to import characteristic high-quality agricultural products and food from countries and regions participating in the Belt and Road Initiative.

Considering the background of ongoing consumption structure upgrading in China, COFCO increased its high-quality food imports.

For example, the company will import wine from Faustino in Spain and Chateau de Viaud in France and roasted hazelnuts and cashew nuts from Turkey and Cambodia, as well as dairy products from New Zealand and Denmark.

Through the expo, COFCO has increased its imports and brought high-quality food into the Chinese market, as well as contributed to promoting international agricultural trade and building a flexible global grain market system.
