China's First 10,000-Ton Patrol Vessel Put into Service

Haixun 09, the first 10,000-ton patrol vessel independently developed by China, was commissioned in South China's Guangdong Province on Oct 23.

Designed and built by China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited, it is the world's first large-scale smart public service vessel to obtain certification and is China's largest of its kind equipped with advanced devices and strong comprehensive capacity.

The vessel is 165 meters long, 20.6 meters wide and 9.5 meters deep. It has a full load displacement of 13,000 metric tons, a minimum cruising endurance of 10,000 nautical miles (18,520 km) per 16 knots and a maximum speed of 25 knots.

The Haixun 09 is expected to improve China's marine traffic management and control and emergency support capacity. It will contribute to guaranteeing strategic supply transport and guarding crucial navigation routes, stabilizing the international marine supply chain, boosting high-quality development of the shipping industry and safeguard China's maritime rights and interests.

With development of the marine economy, the Maritime Safety Administration of China has been making efforts to promote development of large-scale marine public service vessels that have global cruising endurance and are able to play a role in international maritime search and rescue and critical emergencies.
